The two companies share a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and the Pacific Northwest. Schoolhouse is a Portland-based company founded twenty years ago, in 2003. They specialize in unique lighting solutions and lifestyle home goods. The Schoolhouse Electric & Supply factory is located in a hundred year-old building in Portland, Oregon.
Pendleton is a bit older (founded as Pendleton Woolen Mills in 1909, with Oregon weaving roots that stretch back to 1863). Pendleton is also Northwest-based, with the HQ in Portland and woolen mills in Oregon and Washington. The Canebrake blanket is made start to finish in Pendleton’s Pacific Northwest mills.
The blankets
A canebrake is a thicket of Arundinaria grasses, including bamboo, which can be harvested and woven when used as cane. Woven cane, woven wool—it all comes together in a beautiful blanket.
Expertly crafted to last a lifetime, this unique blanket features timeless patterns and muted colors with a clean, modern style. The Canebrake blanket is offered in a two palettes:
Canebrake in Fireside:
Fireside’s rich colors evoke fireside warmth and cozy times at home, a favorite part of the winter season.
Canebreak in Winterwood:
Winterwood is inspired by a cool wintry forest scene; the season’s experience out of doors.
The blanket is napped; fabric is combed for a softer, thicker feel. It has a sleek whipstitch binding, and is pure virgin wool with a cotton warp.
