Pendleton and Hender Scheme, Japan
A New Collaboration with Hender Scheme
Pendleton is proud to announce a new collaboration of elevated streetwear with Tokyo-based Hender Scheme that includes footwear and accessories. Hender Scheme balances modern design with a reverence for craftsmanship. The brand is best known for its handmade reproductions of classic sneaker models from brands such as Adidas and Nike using raw, vegetable-tanned leather as their signature material. This collection will predominantly be available in Japan.
SKM, a derby shoe, is offered in two colorways crafted with Hender Scheme’s pebble leather uppers and a patterned Pendleton wool fabric panel over the toe box.
The second footwear offering, Hender Scheme’s open-backed clogs, features two of Pendleton’s virgin wool fabrics, woven in our USA mills.
These fabrics also feature in the collection’s two handbags, both with leather handles.
Hender Scheme Background
Designer and founder Ryo Kashiwazaki studied philosophy before learning leather craft. He began Hender Scheme in 2010 to explore the concept of finding balance between opposing constructs, like modernity vs. handcraftsmanship, or inhumanity vs. humanity. This exclusive collection is not currently available in the USA. For more information, and to see additional pieces, please visit the Hender Scheme website.
